Bodies of 7 PKK guerrillas who lost their lives in an ambush on a military outpost in Hakkari were buried. Thousands were present at the funeral. The witnesses stated that most of the bodies were destroyed by the soldiers and one body was beheaded. KCK called for protests against the brutality of the Turkish army.
The bodies of those guerrillas who lost their lives on 5 July in an ambush on military outpost in Beyyurdu (Bidav) village in Semdinli district of Hakkari were destroyed by the soldiers, said attendant of the funeral. The witnesses stated that while one body has been beheaded the eyes of the majority of the bodies have been scratched out. They also stated that all the bodies had knife scars.
It is reported that the police wanted to stop the crowd attend the funeral which cause 15-minute tension. While police attacked the crowd with tears gas the youth stoned the police.
After the religious requirements the bodies were buried in Altunsu (Þafatan) cemetery in Semdinli.
The family of Meral Bingül (Avaþin) took their daughter’s body to Bitlis where they come from. For Bingül a funeral will be held in Bitlis.
It is also reported that the 3 bodies remained in Semdinli State Hospital morgue will also be buried in Semdinli in following days.
On the other hand Kurdistan Democratic Confederation in a press release stated that Turkish army is committing war crimes by destroying the bodies of guerrillas. KCK also called the Kurdish not to be silent in the face of this brutality of the Turkish state and turn each guerrilla funeral into a serhildan (civil uprise).
