Assyrians in Syria call upon NATO to disallow Turkish intervention

Organizations of Syriac and Assyrian people in Syria have released a statement announcing that they will not accept an intervention by the Turkish state against the democratic autonomous administration in Rojava, West Kurdistan.

Organizations of Syriac and Assyrian people in Syria have released a statement announcing that they will not accept an intervention by the Turkish state against the democratic autonomous administration in Rojava, West Kurdistan.

The statement by Syriac Military Council (MFS), Syriac Union Party (GHS), representative of European Syriac Union (ESU) and Syriac National Council of Syria pointed out that they as Assyrian-Syriac people suffered the most from the savagery of the ISIS terrorist organization in Syria.

The statement underlined that; “The whole world knows the fact that ISIS wants to massacre us. During these dark times, we, together with Kurds, Arabs and other neighboring peoples founded the Democratic Autonomous Administration that resists to the ISIS and other barbarian groups in North Syria and enables a life with freedom, democracy and safety. We also founded the Syriac Military Council (MFS), our own military force, which is fighting ISIS alongside the YPG (Kurdish), Al-Sanadid (Arab) and Free Syrian Army. This has made us the most successful force in the fight against ISIS.”

The Assyrian and Syrian organizations remarked that they didn't want NATO to allow any attempt or demand by Turkey for an attack or intervention against Kurds in Syria, adding; “Any attack on the Democratic Autonomous Administration, to which all peoples are a party, will unavoidably be an attack on all the peoples living here. We announce hereby that we will rise up and defend ourselves in the event of an attack by Turkey. We have suffered enough under Turkish sovereignty already, and we will not die that easily this time. Any attempt for Turkey for an attack on Kurds in Syria will not only cause a loss of hope in the fight against ISIS, but also lead up to a conflict and massacres in the region that houses many ethnic identities, as well as enabling ISIS to realize its plans to break down this democratic autonomous system.”

The statement noted that a number of Êzîdîs have also taken shelter in the Democratic Autonomous Administration.

Demanding the re-initiation of peace talks between Turkish and Kurdish peoples, the Assyrian and Syriac organizations called upon NATO to disallow any attempts targeting the only democratic self-ruling in Syria.
