AKP’s fear of April 4: HDP MP Ocalan can’t enter his own village

The AKP government, in their fear of April 4, has banned HDP MPs from entering Halfeti. HDP MP Omer Ocalan was cut off with a barricade. Ocalan continues to wait.

The police and soldiers surrounded the Amara (Omerli) neighborhood to stop the birthday celebrations for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan, on orders of the Interior Ministry. Entry to the neighborhood was blocked days ago and soldiers searched every house. The soldiers threatened the villagers to not allow any “strangers” into their homes and barricaded off the 3 roads heading into the neighborhood.

MP BARRICADED OFF

HDP Urfa MP and Abdullah Ocalan’s nephew Omer Ocalan was barred from entering the Amara neighborhood by orders of the Interior Ministry. Ocalan went to the district later and was barred at the entrance of the district one more time. MP Ocalan went to the Sutveren neighborhood on the Birecik side to enter Halfeti today, and was stopped by a water cannon, several armored vehicles and many police officers manning a barricade at the entrance to the district.

MP Ocalan continues to wait in front of the barricade and is trying to speak with the Urfa Governorate.

“THIS IS STATE TERROR”

Ocalan said the incidents were “state terror” and added: “I am barred from entering the village that I live in. This shows how far the government has fallen.”
Ocalan said the Urfa Deputy Police Chief came to the scene but he won’t be talking to him or any other outpost commissary: “We will continue to wait here until the Governor of Urfa responds to our calls.”

HDP MP Omer Ocalan called on everybody to celebrate Ocalan’s birthday wherever they are.
