Aid collected by Mezza Luna Kurdistan Italia (MLRKI) has reached Kobanê.

Mezza Luna was recently established on 30 November 2014, however the aid campaign initiated by the organisation drew great attention, raising 30 thousand euros in 4 months.

A delegation to take the aid to Kobanê was formed on 17 March 2015, comprising Mezza Luna chair Alican Yıldız, and representatives from UIKI ONLUS, Rojava Calling, La Stafetta Sanitaria per Suruç and Santomenna municipality. A 5-person delegation first visited Malatya and handed over the aid material amounting to 5,500 euros, consisting mainly of food to those people from Kobanê who took refuge in Malatya during the war. The delegation here talked to people from Kobanê in order to assess the concrete problems they suffer.

The delegation then went to Suruç in order to cross into Kobanê, where they first visited the canton prime minister, Enwer Müslim. MLRKI chair Alican Yıldız and Massimilliano Voza from Santomenna Municipality discussed with Muslim urgent needs and the work to be done for the reconstruction of Kobanê. The members of the delegation said they wanted to observe and asses the concrete needs in the town so that the second stage of the aid campaign that will be organised upon their return could call for more suitable material.

Following their assessments in the town, the delegation donated 10 thousand euros to be used to provide a potable water supply as the lack of potable water is one of the main problems the town is facing.

The delegation then donated 8 thousand euros, collected mainly by Rojava Calling e Staffetta Sanitaria per Suruç, for technical material for the hospital, while donating 5 thousand 795 euros for a generator to be used in the hospital as the electricity problem in the town still continue.

The delegation held a press conference upon their return to Italy regarding the distribution of the aid, thanking all the institutions and people who had contributed to the campaign.
