8 soldiers killed in guerrilla action in memory of Commander Egîd

HPG guerrillas carried out an action in memory of the Kurdish Commander Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz).

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office has reported in a written statement that guerrillas carried out an action in memory of the Kurdish Commander Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz).

Accordingly, HPG guerrillas infiltrated into the Seyidan hill outpost at the border of Şırnak's Uludere district at 06:00 on March 27.

Guerrillas hit the 4 emplacements in the outpost, which left 8 soldiers dead in the first three, while the number of casualties in the 4th emplacement couldn't be verified.

The scene witnessed an intense activity of Turkish jets and it was shelled by Turkish troops in the wake of the action which was conducted to mark the death anniversary of Kurdish Commander Martyr Agit (Mahsum Korkmaz).

HPG continued, reporting another action by guerrillas who targeted the soldiers in Sinek outpost, again at the border of Şırnak's Uludere district at 15:00 on March 26. The number of casualties suffered by Turkish troops couldn't be clarified.

HPG added that Turkish warplanes bombed the hamlet of Çırav in Garê area of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones between 18.00 - 18.30 on March 26.
