5th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution marked in Sulaymaniyah

Hundreds joined an event to mark the 5th anniversary of the July 19 Rojava Revolution in Sulaymaniyah.

5th anniversary of the July 19 Rojava Revolution has been celebrated in Sulaymaniyah city of Southern Kurdistan.

The event was attended by hundreds of civilians in addition to representatives of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Gorran (Change) Movement, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), Freedom Movement (Tevgera Azadî), Democratic People's Front (Bereyi Gel) and representatives of Rojava Cantons to Southern Kurdistan.

Following a minute of silence in memory of those fallen in Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, messages of political parties and organisations were read out.

Speakers saluted the Rojava Revolution, defining it as a women's revolution, and stressed that peoples lived together in peace in the environment secured by People's/Women's Defense Units YPG/YPJ. The speakers pointed out that Rojava Revolution is a symbol for the freedom of four parts of Kurdistan.

The event continued with music performances accompanied by Kurdish traditional dance halay.
