Turkish security forces continue detention and arrest operations ahead of the general elections to take place in Turkey and North Kurdistan on June 7. 4 youths have been detained in İpekyolu and Edremit districts of Van, and one other was remanded in custody in Dargeçit district of Mardin.
Teams affiliated to Van police department raided a number of houses in İpekyolu and Edremit districts of Van early in the morning. Four youths detained in the operation were taken to provincial police headquarters.
In Dargeçit (Kerboran) district of Mardin, a youth aged 21 who was taken into custody as a result of a raid in Bahçebaşı neighborhood yesterday, has been referred to the courthouse.
The woman who was later referred to Dargeçit High Court was remanded in custody and sent to Midyat M Type Closed Prison for alleged membership to YDGH-K (Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Women's Movement).
