30 gang members killed in Sinjar

HPG Sinjar Command and the YBŞ General Command have issued a joint statement regarding the clashes in Sinjar, reported that ISIS attempted to carry out an attack with 2 suicide bombers and 3 bomb-laden vehicles, but that these attacks were defeated by the guerrilla forces.

According to information provided by the HPG and YBŞ Commands, the ISIS gangs attempted to carry out the attacks in the Xeyr and Kale neighbourhoods of the town at around 04:30 this morning. While one of the bombers was killed by the guerrillas, the other one exploded the bombs in panic. The 3 bomb-laden vehicles were blown up by the guerrilla forces before they could reach their targets.

Following the bomb attacks, the ISIS gangs launched other attacks on guerrilla and peshmerga forces from 3 directions on the Suka Jer, Taxa Minare and Xeyr Nasır neighbourhoods. In the clashes that broke out in these areas, 25 gang members were reportedly killed, while 15 others were wounded. The statement of the HPG and YBŞ Commands also reported that the corpses of 12 ISIS members were either seized by the guerrilla forces or remained in the areas under their control. The statement said that large amounts of ammunition of the gangs was also seized following the clashes.

It has also been reported in the statement that some peshmerga lost their lives in the clashes. The statement further reported that coalition forces carried out 5 bombardments of ISIS positions following the clashes, while the exact results of these bombardments have not yet been clarified.
