11-year-old chased by police dies falling from 7th floor in Amed

11 years old Beytullah Aydın fell from the 7th floor of the building he had sought refuge in after being chased by the police during protests in Amed.

11 years old Beytullah Aydın fell from the 7th floor of the building as he was escaping from a police attack in the Öğretmenler Street located in the Bağlar district of Amed.

Reportedly, Aydın and 3 other children sought refuge in Değirmen Building on Öğretmenler Street as they were protesting the recent airstrikes and political arrests. Aydın fell from the 7th floor of this building as he was trying to go over to the next housetop, and died.

M.B. (14) lives in Değirmen Building and said that he ran to the staircase when he heard a loud noise which scared him. M.B. reported that Aydın’s friends were trying to wake him up when he found the 4 children, and woke up the neighbors to get the injured child out of the basement floor. M.B stated that Aydın’s body was covered with blood and too heavy to carry, and Aydın’s heart was not beating when the neighbors intervened in the situation. M.B added crime scene investigation units arrived afterwards, but left without doing any investigation due to the extensive teargas in the area.
