Political detention operations against the Kurdish population in North Kurdistan continue increasingly.
Soldiers affiliated to Bismil Gendarme Command have carried out concurrent raids in a number of houses in Bismil district of Amed early this morning. The house of Bismil co-mayor Cemile Eminoğlu was among those targeted in the operation.
11 people have been detained in the operation so far and the number of detainees is expected to increase.
While co-mayor Cemile Eminoğlu wasn't home during the operation, soldiers broke the door of her flat to get inside where they made a detailed search and seized a computer.
The detainees are being held at Bismil Gendarme Command.
On the other hand, out of 5 people who were released after detention in Nusaybin district of Mardin on 23 April, three have been retaken into custody yesterday.
The three people who were detained on prosecutor's objection to their release, were formally arrested by Mardin Criminal Court of Peace, and sent to prison for allegedly “recruiting new members to an illegal organization”.
