Appeal to EU by Panahi’s mother: Do not allow the execution!

The mother of the Kurdish prisoner Ramin Hossein Panahi, who has been sentenced to death by the Iranian state, is calling on the EU to stop the execution of her son.

The Kurdish political prisoner Ramin Hossein Panahiwas arrested last year and sentenced to death before an "Islamic Revolutionary Court" for "combating the Islamic government". The Iranian state has scheduled the execution of Panagi for the post-Ramadan period.

Panahi's mother, Şerife, has appealed to Federica Mogherini, the EU's foreign and security policy representative, to stop the execution of her son's death sentence.

In her letter, she writes, "This is a letter from a mother in a small community in Iranian Kurdistan. A mother whose heart fills with fear every day that a part of her heart is executed. Do you understand what this means?

I am a mother with a burning heart. For three years there has been no relief. For many years, I stand behind my children who speak of law and justice. But everything is forbidden here. What I experience today is reminiscent of hell.

I'm sure you heard the name of Ramin Hossein Panahi. Even if Ramin had made a mistake, the verdict against him must not be execution. Am I right with what I said? Ramin is a political activist. They want to execute him because they have built a system of lies. I wish you to meet with those responsible in Iran and stop the execution of Ramin. Iran must be convicted in the European Court of Justice. Because of my little son Ramin every day is hard for me. Put yourself in my position. Do something to prevent this catastrophe. I'm sure you can do something. I want you to seriously seek to stop this decision. Do not allow Ramin to be executed."
