The Justice Vigil carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached day 365. The vigil was launched on 9 March 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives, in Suruç, province of Urfa, on 14 June 2018.

The vigil has been carried out since then in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit, who survived the attack.

Emine Şenyaşar could not come to the courthouse today because she had an appointment at a hospital in Antep due to an eye problem. Her son Ferit Şenyaşar went with his mother, so the vigil was taken over by Emine’s daughter and son, Perihan Yüzgüldü and Mehmet Şenyaşar. The siblings came to the area called “Şenyaşar family justice corner” in the early hours of the morning.

'TILL JUSTICE IS SERVED...'

Mehmet Şenyaşar said that the Justice Vigil ended its first year despite the many difficulties. "My sister and I are continuing the vigil. Tomorrow marks the end of the vigil’s first year; we expect all human rights defenders to come to the courthouse tomorrow. This vigil will continue until justice is served. We want justice for all.”

Perihan Yüzgüldü said: “My mother and brother have experienced difficulties in front of the courthouse for 365 days. We want justice to be served. We will not leave here until justice is served. My mother wants justice for women also. Today is Women's Day. Women should not leave my mother alone tomorrow. My brother (Fadıl Şenyaşar) has been imprisoned for almost 4 years for no reason. He should be released.”

ARTISTS VISIT THE VIGIL

In the meantime, support visits to the family are continuing. Artist Nurcan Değirmenci, who is in Urfa city for an event to mark the 8 March International Working Women's Day, and a delegation of musicians who will perform at the event, visited the family in front of the courthouse. Mehmet Şenyaşar and his older sister, Perihan Yuguguldu, gave information to the delegation about the Justice Vigil.

Nurcan Değirmenci said: “We support the family's struggle. We have hope for a solution. We have never lost hope. Today is 8 March. We will celebrate it by being inspired by Mother Emine's struggle. This year we dedicate March 8 to Mother Emine.”
