The prosecutor that summoned journalists to court to testify for showing solidarity with Özgür Gündem newspaper cannot be found.
Journalists Yıldırım Türker, Nadire Mater, Faruk Balıkçı, and Tuğrul Eryılmaz, and director Veysi Altay are at the courthouse in Çağlayan, Istanbul in order to testify for supporting the "Editor-In-Chiefs on Watch" campaign, for which the prosecutor accused the journalists of “spreading propaganda for an illegal organization”.
These 5 people appeared at the prosecutor’s office, but the prosecutor was not at the office, said Lawyer Meriç Eyüpoğlu who spoke to the accused. Eyüpoğlu said the deputy prosecutor told the lawyers that the journalists would testify at the police station, and criticized the prosecution’s decision to not receive testimonies at its office.
Journalists and lawyer continue to wait at the courthouse.
