Prosecutor orders new 24 hours extension of custody time for journalist Altay

The custody time of Yeni Yaşam Newspaper employee Rojin Altay has been extended for one more day.

Journalist Rojin Altay works for Yeni Yaşam Newspaper. She was taken into custody at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, before boarding a plane to Amed on 28 January. The arrest was part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Journalist Altay was brought to the Istanbul Police Department on Vatan Street. She was prevented from seeing her lawyers for 24 hours.

While the reason for detention was not learned due to the confidential decision imposed on the file, the prosecutor ordered a first extension of her custody time for an extra 24 hours. On Monday, the prosecutor ordered a further 24 hours extension and the journalist remained in custody.
