DFG: We won't stay silent on killing of journalists

The DFG issued a statement condemning the assassination of journalist Egîd Roj in a Turkish drone attack on Tishrin.

The Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) released a statement regarding the assassination of journalist Egîd Roj. The journalist was killed by a Turkish armed drone at the Tishrin Dam in Northern and Eastern Syria.

In a statement shared on social media, the DFG said: "Egîd Roj, a journalist from Afrin (Efrîn), was covering the resistance at the Tishrin Dam.

While journalists working in war zones are protected under international law, Turkey has once again violated these laws by carrying out drone attacks over the past six months, killing Gülistan Tara and Hêro Bahadîn in Sulaymaniyah (Silêmaniyê), Aziz Köylüoğlu in Ranya, and Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin in Kobanê."

The statement added: "We do not accept the silence of international organizations that remain passive while journalists are being assassinated, failing to speak out against these unlawful acts. The assassination of journalist Egîd Roj, along with all other slain journalists, must be investigated, and those responsible must be prosecuted as war criminals. We will continue to defend journalism at all costs."
