In a statement released on 10 January concerning the court verdict for Roj TV, BDP underlined the importance of this decision for millions of Roj TV audience and said that; “This decision was made despite the heavy political pressure of Turkey and it sets an example to the fact that courts give legal rulings, not political.”
Pointing out that many people were arrested in Turkey for giving an interview to Roj TV, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Deputy Co-chair Filiz Koçali, in charge of Press and Broadcasting said that; “We hope the long-lasting investigation and trial process of Roj TV will not end in closure and this trial will set an example for Turkey where a large number of journalists are banned from doing their work. The court verdict is also meaningful in terms of being made on the Working Journalists Day on 10 January.”
Koçali also celebrated the working and nonworking journalists who -she added- were going difficult times to fulfill their duties.
