We can't be safe until justice is done, say Roboski relatives

The Platform for Justice for Roboski held a press conference in the Human Rights Association (ÝHD)on Saturday. The Association of Solidarity for Victims and Human Rights (MAZLUMDER) Executive Board Member Nurcan Aktay said, “We will not feel safe until justice is done for Roboski where 34 civilians were killed by war planes on December 28, 2011.”

Aktay criticized the government for not solving the incident and bringing those responsible to account in the past three months. She also said that one family has already immigrated from Turkey for this reason and other families also plan to immigrate.

Metin Uzunöz from the ÝHD demanded the immediate cancellation of the authority to carry out cross-border operations by the Parliament in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Ferhat Encü, one of the victims of the massacre who lost his relatives, commented that the General Staff has in fact accepted responsibility for the massacre. Encü criticized the government for not taking action despite the General Staff’s notice and said that finding those responsible for the massacre is the government’s responsibility. “Roboski massacre was an intentional incident. Yet the government did not even apologize. Thus we feel as others excluded from the society. Living in this country has no more any meaning for us,” said Encü.
