Kurdish women in Þýrnak formed an organization drawing heavily on the example set by the Saturday Mothers, who are the relatives of disappeared people. The Saturday Mothers are staging sit in protests every Saturday in front of Galatasaray High School for the past 15 years.
Þýrnak Saturday Mothers are also demanding to learn the truth about the 17,500 murders by unknown people and disappearances under custody and call for the prosecution of the responsible of these crimes.
MEYA-DER Cizre Branch supported the organization last week and a second sit in action was staged. Peace and Democracy Party’s (BDP) support the demand for justice.
Mothers of Þýrnak carried banners in Kurdish and Turkish.
