Saturday Mothers demanding justice for enforced disappearances called on the Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin during their 366th sit-in in Istanbul on Saturday. In a letter to Justice Minister, Hediye Coþkun said, If you had done your duty, those who forcibly made disappear my son would have been in jail now instead of being mayors. But instead, you shut down Özgür Gündem newspaper which has been writing about enforced disappearances. Is this justice? as Emine Coþkuns letter said, There is no Ministry of Justice but Ministry of Injustice in Turkey.
Vildan Kýran who read this weeks press release emphasized that the new legal package for justice is being prepared without taking into consideration the demands of the Saturday Mothers who have been struggling for justice for years.
Saturday Mothers also held a sit-in in Cizre (Þýrnak). This weeks action was dedicated to Ahmet Karagöz who disappeared after being taken away by village guards from his home in 1993. Karagözs wife Ayþe Karagöz noted that when she asked about her husband the mayor of the time and the chief village guard Kamil Atak had told her not to ask about him again or to get ready for the same fate.
