Relatives of Disappeared: Let’s put an end to violence in Iran

At the sit-in action organized every week by ÝHD Diyarbakýr Branch and relatives of disappeared, the stories of murdered sheepmen were told this week. Pointing out to the executions in Iran, ÝHD Branch Secretary Raci Bilici said; “We are calling all circles that call themselves human to say an end to this violence”.

The sit-act organized every week by ÝHD Diyarbakýr Branch and relatives of disappeared with the slogan “Let the disappeared be found, let the offenders be found” was staged in front of Koþuyolu Park Right to Live Monument at its 98. Week.

The sit act, where the photographs of disappeared were carried, was participated by ÝHD managers, Peace Mothers Initiative, representatives of various institutions in Diyarbakir and the relatives of disappeared people. ÝHD Diyarbakir Branch Secretary Raci Bilici reminded that Saturday Mothers, who stage a sit-act every week in front of Ýstanbul Galatasaray High School, gathered for the 300 time this week. Bilici added; “For many years now, we have been organizing activities and giving a struggle for finding the disappeared in this country. This struggle of us will continue in future as well. Our desire for a decent society will not become reality unless the state finds the offenders of disappeared people. We demand the government to take a more active role in this regard”.

‘Let’s say an end to the violence in Iran’

Bilici pointed out to the death sentence given to Kurdish youngster Habibula Latifi who will be executed tomorrow in Iran, saying; “One more prisoner will be executed tomorrow in Iran where people are executed almost every day. This situation causes pain to us. Here, we are appealing to human rights organizations and all circles that call themselves human to say an end to this violence. We need tor ise our voices to be able to prevent these executions. We ask the president and prime minister, who call themselves Muslim, to make pressure on Iran to prevent the executions”.

Call to President Gül to ‘make a statement to overcome the tension’

Bilici also mentioned President Abdullah Gül’s visit to Diyarbakýr on 30 December and said the followings; “Abdullah Gül’s visit ro Diyarbakýr is important. Dear Gül can make the statements in Diyarbakýr that will overcome the existing tension and pave the way for the process. We are appealing to the President and all authorities that will enter the new year 2011 in Diyarbakýr; Let 2010 be a year when the offenders of unidentified are brought into the open and no abuses of right are seen”.

The stories of disappeared shepherds were told

Following Bilici’s statement, ÝHD Commission of Disappeared member Necibe Güneþ Perinçek told the stories of shepherds who disappeared in 1990’s and murdered with extrajudicial execution. Perinçek marked that there was an intention on various sides in those periods, adding that shepherds were however the target of security forces in all periods. Following the speech, Perinçek listed the names of shepherds who were lost under detention and murdered by unidentified offenders.
