According to Lecturer of International Relationship Department in the Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ), Profesor Altunýþýk, Recep Tayyip Erdoðan, Prime Minister of Turkey, is somehow confused about the definition and practice of democracy when it comes to the Kurdish problem.
Reporting the remarks by Profesor Altunýþýk, DIHA News Agency underlined that the Professor spoke about the need to "listen to your people precisely because you are the Prime Minister who is suggesting to Husnu Mubarak to listen to the Egyptian people. Otherwise - said the Professor - you are a dictator when it comes yo your people while presenting yourself as a democrat when it comes to another country’s people. No one would consider you a credible figure unless you implement democracy’s rules in your country. Put into practice what you’ve said Egyptian people deserved” said Altunýþýk, who finds Erdoðan’s actions as populist and two-faced.
Erdoðan supported people’s disobedience in Egypt in his recent speech while being against Kurdish people’s demands.
“No government survived in history only by exercising pressure, fear and suppression. Listen to your people’s legitimate demands. Do not attack your people” said PM Erdoðan addressing Husnu Mubarak regarding the chain of events in Egypt.
