Mother search for her son revealed new mass graves

A mother’s search for her son’s body revealed a mass grave where 12 Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members, including two women, are allegedly interred.

The PKK members lost their life during a clash in 1993 in Yaylak (Eskar) Village in Kulp, a district of Diyarbakýr.

Mother Nezire Aytin has been searching for her son Murat Aytin’s grave for 18 years.

The mother called on other PKK members’ families to claim their children bodies and to take them to a decent place with an appropriate funeral.

According to her allegation, many of the bodies in the mass grave were unarmed including her son.

Speaking to DÝHA, she said; “I spoke with many villagers around my son and his friends’ mass grave. They told me that soldiers left the bodies for days on the ground before they buried them. There were no guns with them. My son was going to participate in the PKK forces, but they killed him only three days later he left home. It took me to 18 years to find the mass grave. No authority helps us to reveal the truth. Now, I do not want to take only my son’s body. I want all of them to be taken from here and delivered their families. Living 18 years after his death, I know not knowing where your child’ body is a great pain. Families who think that their child’s body is here should apply to prosecutors.”

She is now waiting for other families to apply to prosecutors.
