Kurdish language is "criminal evidence", says prosecutor

Knowing Kurdish and having a knowledge of Kurdish poems has been considered a criminal evidence by the prosecutor in the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) trial targeting the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party).

The Kurdish lessons given by lawyer Gönül Erdem were recorded as criminal evidence in the KCK Istanbul Indictment which on 2 April announced that the indictment had been accepted

The prosecutor also made quite interesting evaluations about the Kurdish poem and grammar books found in the house of lawyer Gönül Erdem who was arrested within the framework of KCK operations.

The prosecutor said the followings about a Kurdish poem containing notes by Erdem; “It is understood that the suspect gave efforts to learn Kurdish to be more beneficial to the terror organization and her learning Kurdish cannot be explained only with her interest in learning a language. In consideration of the criminal evidences, it is seen that the suspect played a role in the terror organization and the statements she made during some illegal meetings she attended reveal her commitment to the claim of the terror organization.”
