Leyla Agirî who spoke to ANF said the HDP’s project for new life, a democratic system and a free future had given all women and the peoples a great morale boost. "Don't forget, every vote counts," she added, saying that the elections of 7 June were of historic importance. "This election will determine Turkey's future. Either Turkey will achieve the democratic capability of resolving all its problems in the shape of the HDP, or be condemned to the fascist dictates of the AKP. Therefore, the peoples of Turkey must unite around the HDP in the name of peace, fraternity and a free future."
Women must take ownership of their futures
Leyla Agirî said that the resistance of women in Rojava, in Kobanê, Sinjar and Kirkuk had inspired an awakening in the Middle East and all over the world. Women are taking part in a search for an alternative social system. Women in Turkey have come together in the HDP and are developing the struggle and taking ownership of their future.
Van is a city of toil, struggle, love and fraternity
She added that he HDP’s project for new life, a democratic system and a free future had given all women and the peoples a great morale boost. She said that Van was a city with a long history of toil, strugle and fraternity that had been severely damaged by the Turkish state's policies of massacre.
She said that the massacre in Gelyê Zilan (Zilan valley) was still fresh in the memories of the people of Van. She added that the people of the province had provided great support to the freedom struggle and made many noble sacrifices to the cause. She said the people of Van would demonstrate their support for the cause at the upcoming elections.

Leyla Agirî said that an important aspect of this election was that the leader had chosen HDP Co-president Figen Yüksekdağı to be the candidate in Van. She called on the people of Van to honour the leader and the people and women by going to the polls on 7 June and demolishing the threshold. "Every vote is a matter of honour. I call on all the people of Van, in particular the women, to take ownership of their honour and future," she concluded.
