KCK: We struggle to protect Kurdish language

Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) released a written statement to mark UNESCO's International Mother Language Day saying that the struggle of Kurdish people is to prevent Kurdish language's entrance in the “dead language's list”.

KCK statement paid tribute to those who struggles against assimilation politics of oppressive politics of hegemonic world powers and commemorated Kurdish linguists and activists such as Meleyi Ciziri, Feqiye Teyran, Ehmedi Xai, Haci Kadiri Koyi, Cegerxwin, Feqi Hüseyin Sagnic, Musa Anter, Aram Dikran and Ferhat Kurtay.

KCK reminded the fact that although Kurdish people were never formed a state, it resisted to all the assimilation politics of the ruling nations or dynasties and said that Kurdish language will prevail all the efforts of ruling states to assimilate Kurdish people.

“The revolution of Kurdistan is the revolution of Kurdish language and culture. There are no other nation in the world which is targeted with politics of assimilation and genocide. Our people will rise the struggle against them” the statement said.

KCK said none of the three countries -Turkey, Iran and Syria- recognize Kurdish people's rights in their constitution and follow a degenerative approach against the Kurdish national identity.

On Turkish politics against Kurdish cultural rights KCK said the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) is insisting on assimilation politics by ignoring Kurdish demands for education in Kurdish.

The statement also reminded that Turkish courts continue to ignore Kurdish politicians demand to make their defense speeches in Kurdish.

“Like the right to live no one can restrict a person's right to speak his mother language” the statement said.

KCK called for more action to protect Kurdish language and protest Turkish assimilation politics.

The organization also called on Kurds to use their mother language in all aspects of their daily life as well as government institutions.
