KCK: solution of Kurdish question still the main issue of the Turkish Republic

The Executive Council Presidency of the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) in a press release says that "Turkey's insistence on its denial policies of the Kurdish people, who have also sacrificed their lives and property in the establishment of the Republic, continues in the 87th celebrations of the Republic."

The KCK reminds that "although the Kurdish people was a fundamental components of the period of independence they were later tried to be intimidated through genocidal and assimilation policies and forced Turkification policies were imposed on them. This policy, which led to much suffering and inhuman tragedies amongst our people, is wished to be revived and continued under the leadership of the AKP government in a new manner."

The KCK underlines that "the main issue of the Republic which is the solution of the Kurdish question and democratization of the Republic still stands to be the most important task. If the democratization of the Republic and the denial policies towards the Kurdish people are not uplifted and they are not freed then the Republic can not progressively move ahead and a social peace can not be developed. This is the only way to update the Kurdish-Turkish partnership during the establishment of the Republic as well as achieving a true social reconciliation."

However, according to KCK, the statement and the decision taken at the recent National Security Council can be considered to be a one-sided rejection of "the period wished to be developed by our leader [Ocalan] and movement. There it is not the language of peace and democratic solution but the language of war that is predominant. In addition it also displays the new elimination policy that is enforced not at a national but at an international level."

For the KCK it is clear that "the AKP government shall be responsible for the consequences of this policy implemented by the Turkish state and AKP government that leaves our peaceful efforts unanswered. It is impossible to talk about the possibility of the development of peaceful circumstances as long as the show case trial under the name of KCK trial continues in Amed. This show case trial is against the legal democratic Kurdish politics that has developed for the first time based on its own will-power since the establishment of the Republic."
