PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) Executive Council Member Murat Karayılan addressed the Kurdish youth from Gerîla TV. His statement was translated by ANF English service.

The PKK Commander, who started his speech by wishing the youth respect, love, greetings and success in life, said: “The Kurdish Freedom struggle is going through an important process. The colonialist and occupant force led by Erdoğan is waging a policy of oppression on our people. The enemy sees that the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle has achieved the conditions for victory in such a process. The enemy, weaker than ever, has launched an attack attempt on our movement with the alliance between the AKP and the Ergenekon coming together. The AKP and the Ergenekon attempting such an attack on our people doesn’t mean they are strong. They are afraid, because they are afraid the greater Kurdistan will be founded. They say the existence of the greater Kurdistan will mean the smaller Turkey. That is why they are afraid and are in an attempt to attack and intimidate. Now they have understood that they won’t achieve victory if they only fight us within the official borders of Turkey. That is why they have launched an attack attempt on Rojava Kurdistan. At the same time they are approaching Southern Kurdistan and they want to achieve control over Mosul. With these, they are also in an attempt to control all forces in the region and expand their invasion. Essentially, they are doing all these to weaken and marginalise the Kurdish Freedom Movement.”

“THE TURKISH STATE TRIES TO MAKE THEIR DEFEAT LOOK LIKE A VICTORY”

“Meanwhile, in the new period, they have instated the special war with extremely ugly methods,” said Murat Karayılan and pointed out the following:

“And the Turkish state has no other power left. Right now, what they have is their forces that can run intelligence, technical and special war. The special war, which is the psychological war, runs entirely on black propaganda and lies. For example, they say ‘We killed 400 people in Çelê, Hakkari and Ertuş. We killed such and such people in such and such.’ These are all lies. They are weak, and they want to make strong propaganda for themselves with these. Like Erdoğan’s thievery was proved, the recordings had emerged, but he made people accept that these proofs didn’t exist via propaganda. And the Turkish state is trying to make their defeat in Kurdistan look like a victory. We see that some among our people and our youth are affected by this. So, our patriotic youth, the workers, those who know the truth, shouldn’t stay silent in the face of this black propaganda. They should be in an effort so the youth isn’t affected by such things. There should be an effort to strengthen the organisation. They should organise the efforts. In the universities, schools and neighborhoods the youth should dedicate themselves to efforts to strengthen their organisation. Nobody should be affected by the lies of the Turkish state. Nobody should fall victim to the psychological warfare. To that end, counter-efforts are needed against the enemy’s dark propaganda and the intelligence efforts. Especially in such a period, it is very important and it is a necessity for the youth in Bakurê Kurdistan to carry out such efforts. But we hear that today the coffee houses are on the rise in Gever, the youth plays games in these places. The Turkish police sits and plays with them. The enemy is in an attempt to camouflage their enmity with such a method. The policemen who have spilled the blood of so many of our youth can sit at the same table and play a game with our youth. Is this acceptable? The youth must be alert against such things in Gever, Cizre, Amed, Nusaybin and the whole of Kurdistan and metropolitan cities and display a stance against these. They should be organised. No Kurdish youth should be affected by this psychological warfare system. To this end, there must be efforts for organisation and awareness.”

“THE YOUTH SHOULD JOIN THE RANKS OF THE GUERILLA TO ACHIEVE VICTORY”

PKK Executive Council Member Karayılan ended his speech with: “Meanwhile, everybody says the freedom struggle is going through an important phase. There is a basis to this process, and we will achieve victory. Where is the path to victory, my esteemed youth? The victory lies with you. If you protect your duty, if you stop people from falling under the influence of the enemy, if you organise yourselves and join the ranks of the guerrilla, then victory will definitely be with you. We can achieve victory in this process. We can achieve victory in the freedom march of Kurdistan through meeting in the freedom march of Leader Apo. And everything depends on this. You as the youth of Kurdistan should feel that truth. With great responsibility, come and join. The victory will be achieved, 100%. Today the guerrilla is growing. But our fronts have also expanded quite a lot. We need people everywhere. Because our region has expended, and the need comes from that. We are waging a conscious war, tactical war, methodical war, professional war against our enemy. We are aiming for victory through this. For this, youth must come and we must train them. In such a period, all Kurdish youth should become experts. In politics, in war and in self defense, they should become experts. The conditions for this is present in our regions. We have so many academies. Come join, and turn yourselves into expert professional soldiers. Turn yourselves into the militants of the victory. This is what is demanded of us, the people of Kurdistan and the youth.

I believe that the Kurdish youth will play their part when the time comes, following in the footsteps of Çiyager and Nuda, and they will protect their own will. We have always believed in and trusted the youth, and we do still. We had said this before: We started young, and we will achieve victory as young people. For this, you need to approach this process with responsibility, you should protect your role and join. Join the efforts of the organisation, join the YPS, join the guerrilla. We are faithful and hopeful for this. And with this faith and hope, I sincerely wish you all immense success.”
