Family of Hasan Ocak held conference

Hasan Ocak's family is holding a conference today in Istanbul.

Here is the press release they sent:

"Hasan Ocak became one of the disappeared people in Turkey following his detention near the province of Aksaray on 21 March 1995. Despite the statements of eye witnesses confirming his detention, neither his detention nor his being lost in custody has been admitted by authorities so far.

We, Ocak’s family, friends and human rights defenders, found Hasan’s dead body in the cemetery of the nameless 58 days after his detention.

We have however obtained no results from the cases we opened against all institutions and individuals involved in the processes of Hasan’s detention, disappearance and murder.

Our demand to intervene in the Ergenekon case was also rejected on the grounds that “the court doesn’t rule cases related with the cases of lost in custody and unidentified murders”.

The same court has however allowed secret witnesses speak in the cases of Hasan Ocak and Gazi Slaughter, despite their not reflecting the truth.

We have made after Hasan’s murderers for seventeen years.

And now, we will be addressing to the courts that haven’t tried perpetrators for seventeen years, to those who lost him and to those who want to conceal their crimes through secret witnesses.

As Ocak family, we want to see you by our side during the press meeting we will make for Hasan".
