The Euphrates Canton Committee of Municipalities protested the Turkish state's attacks against Euphrates Canton and targeting of the infrastructure. The Committee made a press statement in front of Kobanê Municipality on Saturday.
The press statement read by Municipal Council member Sêva Bozan noted that the Turkish state and affiliated gangs launched comprehensive attacks on the Shehba, Til Rifet and Manbij regions after the fall of the Assad regime on 8 December.
“As a result of the attacks, tens of thousands of people in these regions left their homes and migrated. While our people confronted the attacks, dozens of women and children were massacred and all service institutions were targeted," the statement said.
Denouncing the attacks on service centres, the statement said, “The Tishrin Dam, which provides for hundreds of thousands of people in northern and eastern Syria, has been out of service due to continuous attacks and left thousands of people deprived of electricity and water. The dam is facing a great danger of collapse, which would create a humanitarian, ecological and economic disaster. All our service institutions such as grain depots, water stations and public offices were bombed. Most recently, the People's Municipality was bombed in the town of al-Hurriyah in Tabqa Canton.”
Condemning the invading Turkish state's attacks on the region and its infrastructure and the silence of international powers, the statement added: “This silence means cooperation. SDF and YPJ fighters are writing historic epics at the Tishrin Dam and Qereqozaq Bridge against the Turkish state and all its attacks. We salute the resistance of the fighters and support them in every sense.”
