Mesopotamian Social Forum (MSF) is organizing Ecology Forum on 29-30 January in Diyarbakýr. The two-day forum aims approximately 20 panels, seminars and workshops.

The preparations are processing for the Ecology Forum which will be held in Diyarbakir Sumer Park campus by MSF on 29-30 January. “The world ecosystem has reached a dimension which will no more digest the human devastation. Global warming is the most important indicator of this deterioration and threats even the rich masters who say ‘the world is mine’. The humanity is now at a crossroads", said the statement of MSF concerning the Ecology Forum.

The statement, which called attention to the destruction caused by the ongoing wars in the World and the Middle East, continued as follows; “The most important reasons for the ongoing wars in the Middle East for many years are power struggles, the nonrecognition of the diversity of peoples and therefore the control and exploitation of natural resources. The people who live in the especially oil, water and mineral reserves-rich Middle East are being deterritorialized on behalf of the exploitation of these reserves and therefore the peoples are subjected to modern-global-capitalist system”.

The statement also made a participation call for the forum to many surroundings including anti-war organizations and the organizations of dam opponents and nature destruction from various countries of the world.

The Ecology Forum will be attended by trade unions, chambers, professional organizations, civil society organizations, municipalities as well as participants from Mexico, Bolivia, Ecuador, Iraq, Senegal. Environmental organizations against the dams and HES constructions in Aegean and Black Sea regions will also attend the forum and make presentations. Around 20 panels, seminars, forums and workshops will be held in the Ecology Forum under the titles GDO (Genetically Modified Organism), Agriculture, Eco-socialism, Social Ecology, Dams, Eco-cities, Alternative Technologies, Antimilitarism and Ecology.
