Within the scope of the campaign ‘I am sharing my house with the people of Van’ launched by Diyarbakýr Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Baydemir has opened his house in Kayapýnar district to a family of 15 people.

Baydemir and his wife Reyhan Yalçýndað visited the Kiye family this morning and had a breakfast together. Baydemir listened to the problems of each family member.

Mother Vasfiye Kiye told that some of her children had to move to Mersin for some time as the three-floored house of the family became anavailable after the earthquake. The mother expressed their situation as follows; “With two of my sons and their families, we had to come here as we were staying outside in cold weather. I am looking forward to our return to Van once the winter is over. Big thanks to Mayor Baydemir who shared his house with us.”

Following the visit to earthquake victims, Baydemir gave information about a new campaign the Municipality has launched jointly with district municipalities with the name ‘I am sharing my meal with the people of Van’. Baydemir expressed the goal of this campaign as helping earthquake victims with packages which gather basic 11 needs in a package.

Baydemir also noted that 209 families have been settled in Diyarbakýr so far within the scope of the house-sharing campaign and ended his statement calling on all people to act in solidarity to relieve the pains of Van’s people who are going through hard times-he added.
