The European Parliament at the 74th conference regarding the truth of the genocide in Dersim at 1937- 1938, history, politics and the law facing each other; The community of Dersim strongly urges the people responsible for the genocide in Dersim in ’38 to face the truth. The people of Dersim want the persons responsible to face international law.This subject will be discussed at the European Parliament during the conference, “Dersim the of ’38, history, politics and law facing each other”, that will be held on 26 May 2011 in Brussels.
The Dersim ’38 conference will be held for the 4th time this year, and will focus on the events that happened during ’37-’38. There will also be a discussion about how the issue can be strategically placed higher on the agenda of international law.
The themes of the conference will be discussed by and with well informed and experienced historical experts, political commentators and members of the legal profession. In addition, representatives of the victims and their families will take part in the discussion.
The hosts of the evening will be the Left Party of the European Parliament, the Democratic Alevi Federation, the New Dersim Council and and the Kurmes Organisation.
Lothar Bisky, the head of the Left Party of the European Parliament will open the conference, the spokesman of the Democratic Alevi Federation (FEDA), Ali Köylüce and representatives from the New Dersim Council will be present at the conference, whose starting time is 9.00 hours.
The journalist Olivier Piot will host and moderate a discussion on the theme named: “Dersim and its Truth”. Historians Nurþen Gürboða and Ayþe Hür will also be present and will deliver speeches. Journalist Edgar Auth will lead the conversation about “Dersim ‘38 facing the political aspects”. Also BDP Member of Parliament in Dersim, Þerafettin Halis, the journalist Oral Çalýþlar, writer Nuray Mert, and the singer Ferhat Tunç will take part in the conversation.
European Council member Marie Christin Vergiat will present the theme,“Dersim 38 according to International Law ”. American International lawyer Barry Fischer and the genocide witnesses will deal with the subject, “International views and facing the law”. Prof. Dr. Mithat Sancar will speak about Dersim in ’38. Erdal Dogan will treat the subject, “Dersim ’38 according to international law”.
Finally the conference will be closed by Jürgen Klute, Head of the European Council of Kurdish Friends. Head of DTK and the candidate member of parliament in Van, Aysel Tuðluk will take part in the discussion.
