They tear them down but they go up again. The Democratic Solution Tents are there to stay. This is the message the Kurds are sending to the authorities. Four demands. This is what the Kurdish people want. Rights to education in their mother tongue, an end to the military and political operations against Kurdish people, the release of political prisoners and the lowering of the 10 percent election threshold.
The Democratic Solution Tents are part of the civil disobedience initiatives carried out by Kurds and promoted by BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) and DTK (Democratic Society Congress).
The authorities tried to stop them with violence: they took the tents down and arrested scores. But dozens more came to help and join forces to rebuilt the Democratic Solution Tents. The last one to go up last night was the tent in Varto, a district of Muþ.
BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Varto Branch Chair Sýrrý Sever and Varto Mayor Gülþen Deðer had meeting with Varto Governor Ahmet Günaydýn. And the district governor finally ordered soldiers and police to withdraw.
The tent was being rebuilt in the Municipality’s tea garden.
