BDP had a tough working year in Parliament

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputies had a very hard year in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) in 2010. Hard work despite the many judicial barriers against their legal and legitimate existence in the political life of Turkey.

DIHA news agency had made a sum up of the work carried out by BDP deputies. Nineteen deputies from BDP presented 735 written questions, 61 bills of law and 188 research proposals at the TBMM during the sessions in 2010 while 554 indictments and 2,573 prison sentences were requested against them. Besides hard work at the TBMM, there are many actions were taken by the deputies of BDP. Making differences with these political performances, BDP also drawn attention due to the negotiations with the government and international political environments like European Union and internationally well known human rights associations as well.

The BDP deputies faced many attacks during this enthusiastic effort besides judicial institutions’ implementations. Some time their vehicles were stoned and some time they were punched. The ruling party and other political parties’ nationalist and ultra nationalist accusations created lynch atmosphere against them.
