Kurdistan Worker Party (PKK) warned South Kurdistan’s political powers on the eve of Turkish president and prime minister’s visit to the region.
In a rare interview with ANF Kurdish Service, Cemil Bayik one of the most prominent figure in Kurdish movement said Turkish governing party AKP is trying to lock the peace process and warned that the upcoming visits of Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to South Kurdistan carries the same motivation.
“We are not against relations between AKP and Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK). But such a relationship must serve for the interests of Kurdish people” Bayik said.
“Any attempt to destroy the PKK will also destroy KDP”
He called Kurdish political parties in South Kurdistan to avoid any cooperation with Turkey against the PKK.
Speaking on the Kurdish autonomy issue Bayik said the “Democratic Autonomy Project” is the key to solve the Kurdish Question and will help democratization of the country. He also said that PKK fully supports a solution on grounds of democratic autonomy.
“Kurdish people wants to enjoy their cultural rights and education in mother language. They want to live in a democratic country. They demand self-determination in Kurdistan” he said.
Bayik called Kurdish politicians to discuss the “Democratic Autonomy Project” with Turkish politicians and intellectuals.
“Turkish side is not willing to solve Kurdish Question. Democratic Autonomy will not divide Turkey. Some deliberately attacks our proposals to manipulate public opinion. Everybody should know that they (those who criticize Democratic Autonomy Project) want to continue the politics of ignorance” Bayik added.
