Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, and his fellow inmates, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım, and Veysi Aktaş, met with their relatives in Imrali F-Type High-Security Prison today. The visit was granted for the end of Ramadan, the Eid al-Fitr. Öcalan’s nephew Ömer Öcalan and his brother Mehmet Öcalan, Konar’s brother Ali Konar, Yıldırım’s brother Polat Yıldırım, and Aktaş’s sister Sabiha Aslan were able to meet with their relatives.
Öcalan’s Message
Ömer Öcalan, Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Urfa (Riha) MP, shared details of the visit on his social media account. He said: "On 31 March, we, the families of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, Hamili Yıldırım, Veysi Aktaş, and Ömer Hayri Konar, held a visit at Imrali Prison Island on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
At a time when significant developments are taking place in Turkey, the Middle East, and globally, I would like to share Mr. Abdullah Öcalan’s message with the public: 'I salute our people’s enthusiastic support for the Call for Peace and a Democratic Society during Newroz. Once again, I extend my greetings for both Newroz and Eid al-Fitr.'"
