“Traces de Vies” (Traces of Life) documentary festival in Clermont-Ferrand (France), has awarded “Kurdish Lover” film, which tells the daily life of a Kurdish family.
Over 80 short, middle and full- length films were shown in the documentary film festival last week, which was organized for the 20th time this year. 53 films took place in the competition part of the festival. Award granted films were announced at weekend.
The big award was given to “Kurdish Lover” film of woman director Clarisse Hahn, who discovers a “non-existing country” (Kurdistan) with a Kurdish friend she met in Paris. The daily life of a Kurdish family is presented to the audience.
While the jury of the “Traces de Vies” Festival described the film as “a meeting with the other away from all kinds of unfamiliarity”, Hahn said that it is the story of “how people live together”. While describing the love she lived with her Kurdish friend, Hahn says; “Coming close to the people around him is at the same time my coming closer to him”.
