The book “Sociology of Freedom” by Abdullah Öcalan was presented in Dresden on Friday evening.

The event was held at the Kurdish Democratic Society Association and was part of a reading tour by Reimar Heider, who translated the book into German and is spokesman for the International Initiative “Freedom for Öcalan, Peace in Kurdistan”.

Due to the corona pandemic, only a limited number of people could take part in the event. In addition to the presentation of the book, the third volume of Öcalan's “Manifesto of Democratic Civilization” published in German by Unrast-Verlag last spring, a short film about the life story of the Kurdish leader was shown. Reimar Heider then answered the participants' questions.

The reading tour has so far reached the cities of Hanover, Berlin, Braunschweig, Hamburg, Magdeburg and Leipzig. A series of events are planned in North Rhine-Westphalia in November. On his tour, Reimar Heider gives an introduction to the ideas and political concepts of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and relates them to the current situation of Öcalan and the Kurdish freedom movement. The book presentations and discussion events in Germany are organized by Kurdish social centers and women's councils, Kurdistan / Rojava solidarity groups and the YXK / JXK student association.
