Malatya 3rd High Criminal Court has opened a new case against artist Ferhat Tunç, accusing him of “making propaganda for MKP terror organization” in a speech he made in Dersim on 1 May 2011.
The accusation by prosecutor Mehmet Badem quoted some parts of Tunç’s statement in the mentioned date and related these parts to the six pages short history of MKP (Maoist Communist Party) which was also presented in the accusation.
“The Kurdish civil movement has given a struggle for dozens of years for the liberation of Turkey as a whole, not only for their own liberation. We are in the areas with an aim to create a new Turkey” is one of the statements put forward by the accusation as objectionable.
Artist Ferhat Tunç who was appealed for his testimony refused to bear testimony, remarking that he will defend himself at the trial which will be held in Malatya on 31 May.
Tunç said the followings concerning the most recent case opened against him; “I think my statements were associated to MKP because I mentioned the name of Ýbrahim Kaypakkaya in my speech. I have difficulty in understanding this tragicomic case and the judiciary mentality as almost all speeches I made in the past election process have been a matter in dispute, which is unacceptable.”
