Life in Maxmur camp becomes a film

Maxmur Camp, where thousands of Kurdish people fleeing to South Kurdistan between the years 1993-94 because of the pressures of the Turkish state, became a film which tells of the difficulties and shattered lives in Mahmur camp.

Thousands of Kurdish people were facing the pressures of the state in the years 1993-94 when hundreds of villages were evacuated and thousands of people were disappeared in Turkey and went to South Kurdistan side by walking and settled into Maxmur camp. The camp, which has been made the subject of bargaining between Turkey-Iraq-USA and UN and came to the agenda each time with the questions will it be evacuated or remain, has been the subject of a movie this time.

GERMAN JOURNALIST’S VISIT TO MAXMUR

The ‘Jenura’ film, which is about the challenges of thousands of people living in the Maxmur refugee camp, treats the last view the German journalist Angelina faces during her last visit. Coming to Mahmur to visit the people she had photographed in her previous visits, finds herself in an unhoped tragedy.

The challenges waiting for thousands of people who are trying to rebuild their lives under the scorching desert heat, aren’t the desert heat, shelter and waterlessness alone. The film presents sections from the lives of small Jenura and the scorpion hunter who are giving a struggle for life in a desert after being deprived of their lands.
