Kurdish documentary goes to Sri Lanka Buddhist Festival

Kurdish documentary film Evdale Zeynike directed by Bulent Gunduz was invited to the International Sri Lanka Buddhist Film Festival which opens on 27th May. The documentary is about Evdale Zeynike, a well known Kurdish troubadour or Dengbej in Kurdish.

Talking to DIHA, Gunduz said that the film "has been shot in one month in 13 different places such as Erzurum, Van, Doðubayazýt, Iðdýr, Aðrý, Toprakkale, Tutak, Hamur, Hýnýs, Tekman, Karayazý, Belçika and Paris, all places where Evdal himself had lived. The premiere on the film will be in Van. I wanted to tell the life of Evdale Zeynike because he is very important Dengbej, an important figure in Kurdish oral literature history."
