Invited by Sirt mayor, writers said they are ready to work for a solution

A group of 16 intellectuals, including Ýlkay Akkaya, author Ömer Laçiner, Ahmet Nesin, Ayþegül Devecioðlu, Bekir Berat Özipek, Ferhat Köse and Bilge Contepe from Greens Party, went to Sirt.

Invited to the city by Sirt Municipality, authors and intellectuals spent the night at Tillo Castle.

Sirt Mayor Selim Sadak spoke to the group and said that he is a Kurdish person from Turkey. Mayor Sadak added: “We are a rich society. We have the power to solve this problem and take the lead in Middle East.”

In her speech, singer Ýlkay Akkaya said that they participated to the peace tent on the high-sensitive invitation of Sirt Municipality and Turkey Council of Peace member Mehmet Þirin.

The intellectuals and authors stated that they are ready to do their part for a long lasting peace.
