In the early hours of the morning, the Turkish police stormed Kurdish homes, this time in Osmaniye, and arrested five people for dancing to Kurdish music at a wedding. They are also accused of wearing scarves in the Kurdish colors green, yellow and red.
Those arrested are the co-chairs of the Osmaniye district association of the DEM party, Sevgi Aydın and Faruk Kahraman, Hakan Kahraman from the association's board and two other people. The five were taken to the Osmaniye police headquarters.
Govend as "terrorist propaganda"
For several days now, there has been an intensified crackdown on every expression of Kurdish culture. On the orders of the regime, even Kurdish traffic signs are painted over. At the same time, weddings at which Kurdish music is played are stormed by the police, dancers are identified on videos, their homes are raided, and they are arrested and repeatedly imprisoned on charges of "terrorist propaganda".
