The documentary Dargeçit, which is about the JITEM Case, will compete at the 43rd Istanbul Film Festival.
The documentary Dargeçit, directed by Berke Baş and produced by Enis Köstepen, was selected for the National Documentary competition of the 43rd Istanbul Film Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV).
Dargeçit will be one of the 10 local documentaries that will compete in the festival. The documentary, which was shot between 2018 and 2022, brings viewers to the court process of the Dargeçit JITEM Case, which was opened as a result of the years-long struggle of the relatives of 7 people who were forcibly disappeared in the Kerboran (Dargeçit) district of Mardin, their lawyer Erdal Kuzu and the Human Rights Association.
The documentary, which focuses on the last 5 years of the case that started in 2015, aims to raise the voice of the fight against the danger of statute of limitations in cases regarding serious human rights violations committed in the 1990s.
The festival screenings of Dargeçit will be held on Saturday, 27 April at Beyoğlu Cinema and on Sunday, 28 April at 1.30pm at Kadıköy Cinematheque.
