For days, the occupying Turkish state and its affiliated militia groups, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), have been launching assaults on the Tishrin Dam region. In response, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) have been mounting a fierce resistance. Baz Ereb, one of the fighters participating in this historic struggle, spoke about the battle.
Highlighting the Turkish state’s aerial attacks since the start of the militia assaults on Manbij and the Tishrin Dam, fighter Baz Ereb said: "The fighters defending the Tishrin Dam have played a critical and historic role from the very beginning of the occupying Turkish state's and militias’ assaults. These attacks led to some of our comrades being surrounded. In response, our armed forces displayed epic resistance to break the siege. Despite being deprived of water and food, our comrades persevered with great determination and carried on a historic struggle.
After fierce battles, our forces managed to break the siege, and our fighters assumed a significant role there. In the initial operation against the assault on the Tishrin Dam, over 110 militia members were killed. Our comrades, with their willpower and resilience, are thwarting the attacks of the occupying Turkish state and its militias, inflicting heavy blows on them. The clashes were incredibly heavy, with the distance between us and the enemy sometimes narrowing to just 15 meters."
Despite all the hardships, the fighters of the Tishrin Dam are demonstrating epic resistance and great heroism. They remain steadfast in their fight against all attacks by the occupying Turkish state and its militias, maintaining their determination and resolve in the struggle."
