Ban and confiscation decision on book by Gültan Kışanak

The Izmir 4th Criminal Court of Peace has issued a ban and seizure order on the book "The Purple Color of Kurdish Politics" written by politician Gültan Kışanak.

The Izmir 4th Criminal Court of Peace has ruled to ban and confiscate two books found in the house of Berna Çelik, former Izmir Provincial co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

The prosecutor's office requested that the books "The Purple Color of Kurdish Politics" and "Kids of Kobani" be banned, claiming that they contained "propaganda for an illegal organization". The court accepted the prosecutor's request.

The book "The Purple Color of Kurdish Politics" written by Kurdish politician Gültan Kışanak tells the experiences of women who played an active role in politics and were later arrested. The book addresses the difficulties women face in politics and their struggle against the male-dominated system.

The book "Girls of Kobani" was written by American journalist and author Gayle Tzemach Lemmon and includes the stories of women fighting against ISIS in Kobanê.

These books were previously banned, but the decision was overturned after an appeal.
