Yýlmaz Güney Culture and Act Foundation, and Asi Film organized a commemoration for the great Kurdish director.
Yýlmaz Güney (1931-84), said the presentation of the event, was a master of startling imagery, vigorous storytelling and political commitment, a legendary figure in Turkey's cinema and undoubtedly the best-known and most controversial filmmaker the country has produced to date.
On the 27th anniversary of his death, many politicians, and people in the media, art and literature circles attended the commemoration in the Beyoðlu Cinema in Ýstanbul. Following the speeches about Güney and his life story, one of his films, "The Wall" (Duvar) was screened.
