This year, the festival will be limited to competitions in Kurdish, Arabic and Syriac poetry, story and writing due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Organized for the 4th time this year, the Osman Sebrî Literature Festival began at the Mihemed Şêxo Culture and Art Center in Qamishlo.

Many writers and intellectuals from North and East Syria attend the festival, which is organized for the fourth time this year under the slogan "We are Progressing with Literature" in memory of Kurdish literary writer Osman Sebrî.

Making the opening speech of the festival, Ronahî Hesen, co-chair of the Jazira Region Culture and Arts Committee, said that the people of North and East Syria have a vast literature tradition.

Author Dîlawer Zinkî is this year’s guest of the festival. He congratulated the participants in his speech about the life and struggle of Osman Sebri.

After the speeches, a video about the life of Osman Sebri was shown.

Later in the festival, the awards to the winners of the festival were given. The festival was postponed due to the attacks of the invading Turkish state and its mercenaries in 2019.

This year, the festival will be limited to competitions in Kurdish, Arabic and Syriac poetry, story and writing due to the coronavirus epidemic.
