Tülay Hatimoğulları calls for freedom for Abdullah Öcalan

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları demanded the immediate release of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan at a public meeting organized in Çınar district of Amed (Diyarbakır).

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları visited the Çınar district of Amed (Diyarbakır) on Tuesday as part of her election campaign.

Speaking at the meeting attended by thousands of people, Tülay Hatimoğulları called for freedom for Abdullah Öcalan who is held in total isolation in Imrali Island Prison and has not been heard from for 35 months.

"Isolation is a grave crime against humanity and must be lifted immediately. Mr. Öcalan must regain his freedom immediately," she said.

Tülay Hatimoğulları conveyed the greetings of politicians Gultan Kışanak, Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, who are being held hostage in prison, and the greetings of the mothers at the Justice Vigil in Istanbul.

Stating that they will achieve a significant result in the March 31st elections, Hatimoğulları said, "Those who turn our municipalities into concrete will know that the Kurdish people are here. No one can hide the will of the Kurdish people with concrete."

The DEM Party Co-Chair stated that her party will hold municipal meetings open to the public, that they will have representative offices in every neighborhood, and that they will provide services in Kurdish as well as other languages.

Calling for reaction against the government in places where discrimination is clearly seen, Hatimoğulları said that they will work in areas such as women's employment, women's assembly organization and defend the brotherhood of peoples.

Vowing to fight to win the municipality in Çınar by exceeding the votes they received last term, Hatimoğulları concluded, "From this evening onwards, everyone should call their spouses, friends and relatives and direct them to our party wherever they are. We will do this to spoil the AKP's games."
