In the 31 March local elections in Kulp district of Amed, DEM Party outpolled AKP by 4,218 votes despite 2,000 soldiers and police officers taking part in the elections as transported voters.
Kulp Municipality Co-Mayors Murat İpek and Fatma Ay and council members officially took office today after receiving their certificates of election from the district election board.
The co-mayors came together with the people in front of the municipality building. The residents of the district celebrated the election victory with enthusiasm accompanied by the Kurdish anthem "Her ne peş".
Co-mayors and the people then marched into the municipality taken from the trustee.
In Veysel Karani (Ziyaret) town in the Baykan district of Siirt, elected DEM Party co-mayors Enes Cengiz and Berfin Evren received their certificate of election from the district election board. Siirt MP Sabahat Erdoğan Sarıtaş, DEM Party provincial co-chairs Eşref Tekin, Rewşan Aslan and district executives joined the crowd and entered the municipality building.
